Branding & Marketing Specialist

Location: While this position is remote, applicants must be located in one of the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, or Texas. Occasional travel to Phoenix, Arizona (1-2 times per year) may be required.

Our clients are nonprofits, businesses, and political/advocacy campaigns. The foundation of our work is helping them identify their core purpose and developing messaging that powerfully communicates it both internally and externally. 

Your job will be to bring our clients’ stories to life through powerful writing and creative concept development. You’ll take their vision for the world and turn it into emotionally resonant branding while also writing sharp, efficient content tailored to their target audiences.

More specifically, you will: 

  • Creatively develop a wide range of written marketing materials, including web and social media content, long-form messaging materials, memos, press releases, and more.
  • Develop powerful brand identity for clients. Work with the client and Javelina team to brainstorm and write concepts that vividly communicate the clients vision for the world they want to create.  
  • Translate brainstorms, conversations, and ideas into clear, succinct brand collateral and messages. 
  • Work with your project team to develop our clients’ core brand identity, including purpose, mission and target audience(s).
  • Provide excellent proofreading and editing with strong attention to detail.  
  • Conduct research that informs client projects and decisions.
  • Contribute to other creative processes, such as naming brainstorms and mood board development. 
  • Work with Project Manager(s) to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard. 
  • Cultivate an environment where team members are heard, valued, and supported.
  • Assist in the growth and development of Javelina as a company by contributing to department and company-wide strategic planning activities.
  • Assist in advancing the Javelina brand through participation in sales and marketing initiatives.  

 You are:  

    • A strong writer. Whether writing a tweet or a multi-page marketing plan, you produce high-quality, creative content that drives action. You should be able to draft content to that standard as well as support others to achieve the same level of quality in their work. 
    • Collaborative. You can write with other writers. Whether on a quick phone call or via a Google doc, you can work on the same project together, making sure the best ideas from all participants make it into the final product. 
    • Creative with an eye for design: Storytelling through visual design excites you. You can effectively determine and communicate the creative considerations behind logos, color palettes, and other graphic elements.
    • A thoughtful problem-solver. You welcome challenges and find possible solutions to unexpected problems. You don’t give up easily, and you’re driven to persevere until you’ve found the right solution.
    • A self-starter: Call it initiative, hustle, or just plain motivation, you’re always thinking ahead and pushing work forward without follow up or reminders.
    • Discerning: You have a good creative eye and can distinguish what looks great and what doesn’t. You won’t necessarily be creating all the content, but you have the ability and know-how to jump in and make tweaks when needed.
    • Coachable: You take feedback seriously, not personally. You own your mistakes and use them as a learning opportunity to swiftly make the changes necessary.

Additional details:

  • Initial Posting Date: April 25, 2022
  • Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until filled.
  • Employment Type: Full-time, exempt 
  • Salary Range: $45,000 – $60,000 annually. Compensation within stated range commensurate with experience and rates consistent with geographic market.
