It’s been an exciting couple of weeks at Javelina – we’ve added two new team members to our herd! We took a few minutes to ask about their personal passions, their core values, and the change they want to create in the world. Read on to meet Maggy Waddington and Regina Abucay, our Changemaking Interns.

MAGGY WADDINGTON

What’s your personal why?

I care because I can. Simply put, I don’t want to live in a world where I witness injustices, suffering and hardships when I know I can utilize my skills to make meaningful change. I care because I want to show, understand and empathize with a world that reconciles diversity and unity so that individuals –people – can heal and flourish.

If you could make one change in the world, what would it be?

If I could change one thing in the world, I would instill kindness, and with kindness would come empathy and compassion, and that momentum would be pushing harder than ever before to tear down the barriers to success. When we become kind, we recognize people (and ourselves) as human beings who share an inherent and equal value.

What are you most excited about for your internship?

I am most excited about learning from everyone at Javelina. Particularly, I am excited to learn the ins-and-outs of a purpose-driven company!

What would you say a core value of yours is?

Integrity, passion and empathy.

REGINA ABUCAY

What’s your personal why?

I want to be able to empower and give value to those oppressed and make space for the voiceless to be heard.

If you could make one change in the world, what would it be?

If I could make one change in the world, it would be to make quality education accessible to everyone, regardless of income, location, race, and so on.

What are you most excited about for your internship?

As a marketing student, I am most excited to learn about the practical uses of marketing during this internship, and more importantly, how it can be used with a greater purpose in mind.

What would you say a core value of yours is?

Diversity, open-mindedness, and compassion.

Maggy and Regina are smart, driven, and they both have big visions for the future. We’re so excited to have them on the team and can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make!
